• Overhead bridge cranes are permanently installed cranes within a facility that are used to lift and move material from one location to another in a safe and efficient manner. The bridge crane provides lift coverage within its full dimensional envelope which typically prevents the need for multiple lifting devices or multiple transfers. Overhead bridge cranes are typically designed and manufactured per application so that they can meet the exact needs of the user and fit within the facility’s dimensional parameters.

Spanco Mast-Style Jib Cranes provide 360-degree crane rotation and can be rotated manually or by power. They bolt to floor and building’s steel beams, eliminating costly special foundations. The drop cantilever 201-Series uses side-plate connections to permanently “drop mount” the boom at any specified height on the mast. Drop cantilever booms allow for clearance from overhead obstructions that are located below the top of the mast.
  • Spanco Mast-Style Jib Cranes provide full 360-degree rotation while eliminating the cost of a special foundation, which can cost more than the crane. As a lower cost alternative to freestanding jib cranes, these full-feature mast-style cranes:
    • Are bolted to the floor and existing overhead support structure (e.g., steel beams)
    • Require no special foundation, but only a standard 6-inch reinforced concrete floor
    • Are available with power rotation on all models

    Mast-Style Jib Crane Features

    • Uses wide-flange beam or I-beam for the boom and a wide-flange beam for the column
    • The top assembly has self-aligning spherical bearings
    • The bottom assembly has bronze bearings and bronze thrust washers
    • Both bearing assemblies are provided with grease fittings for lubrication to aid rotation

Our workstation jibs can be permanently foundation-mounted, portable with counterweight bases, wall-mounted, or foundationless to best suit your needs:

501 Series Wall-Mounted Workstation Jib Cranes

    • 180-degree rotation
    • Bolts to existing wall or column
    • Bronze bearings at the pivot points ensure easy rotation
  • Spanco Wall-Traveling Jib Cranes are cost-effective, custom-engineered solutions that are specifically designed to meet your production needs and building specifications. You can cover an entire series of workstations using one agile wall-traveling crane for virtually the entire length of your building.

Features of Spanco Wall-Traveling Jib Cranes

    • Jib boom is fabricated from standard “S” beam with vertical angle truss to reduce deflection; jib boom and truss bolt onto the back frame—no welding needed
    • End trucks are constructed from channel beam frames and resist twisting; the end trucks are jig-fixed for optimal fit and travel. End trucks bolt onto the jib’s back frame
    • Top-running end trucks include double-flanged crane wheels made from forged steel for long service life
    • Crane drive has an electric motor with worm gear reducer
    • Two-speed controls include mainline contactor, control transformer, inverter acceleration control, and fuses in NEMA 3R, 4, or 12 enclosures
    • Variable frequency drives (VFDs) for multi-speed operation
  • Features of Spanco A-Series Steel Gantry Cranes

    • Crane Height Adjustments: Adjusting in 6-inch increments, height adjustment kits use spring-loaded steel locking pins that automatically engage when height positioning holes are reached; adjust heights for specific lifts, uneven floors, or to move through doorways
    • Adjustable Spans: Standard on aluminum cranes, adjustable spans are optional on steel cranes; adjustable spans allow the crane to be shortened for transport down narrow aisles
    • Heavy-Duty Casters: Four-position, swivel-lock casters with moldon polyurethane wheels provide excellent floor protection
Spanco A-Series Gantry Cranes have greater clear spans because they don’t require four brace legs like our T-Series. (NOTE: If you need the ability to adjust the crane’s tread, see our T-Series Gantry Cranes.)

    Common Product Uses

The A-Series Gantry Crane design is one of the most popular system options available from Spanco. And, as one of the original designs from the founding of the company, has stood the test of time as a reliable material handling solution. Many different users have implemented Spanco A-Series Gantry Cranes in a wide range of industries, including:
    • Manufacturing plants
    • Machine shops
    • Warehouses
    • Construction
    • Maintenance Facilities
Consolidated Sterilizer Systems: As a high-volume manufacturer of precision equipment, Consolidated Sterilizer Systems needed material handling equipment that was both robust and precise. A complete system of Spanco cranes, including an Adjustable-Height A-Series Gantry Crane, provided the lifting flexibility and pinpoint maneuverability they required. Bassett Industries: A large-scale metal fabrication facility in Pottstown, Pennsylvania, Bassett Industries was in need of more lifting capacity for jobs with heavy material. They implemented a ten-ton Spanco A-Series Gantry Crane that allowed workers to lift and move large stainless steel plates. Geisinger Healthcare System: Geisinger Healthcare System operates one of the largest emergency air transportation fleets in the US Mid-Atlantic. Their maintenance facility in Danville, Pennsylvania uses a Spanco A-Series Gantry Crane to keep their nine helicopters up to FAA standards.
